Was there again last night. Pretty much like my review of Mr Paul's, all five star service and owned by the same family. Our waitress was Alyssa who was smiling and cute, just like her days at a different restaurant (JBaldwins). She knew the menu and had good recommendations for our group of four. We started with the mussels and the calamari. This was followed by lamp chops, steak salad, chicken and I forgot what our fourth had. Prices are very reasonable with great service. Highly recommended for families yet also work dinners it can handle it all.

After a several year hiatus, my husband and I resumed dining here about a year ago. Neither of us can remember why we stopped coming here; it possibly just fell off of our radar. Many of our friends say the same thing, "The Brewery? We haven't been there in years!" The bar section has several booths and is modern, lively and comfortable. The two other dining sections seem quite outdated and we avoid them if we can get a table in the bar. The servers are all so friendly, confident and helpful. We have our favorites but, honestly, we haven't had a bad server yet. Surprisingly, the owner seems very standoffish. We have tried to make small talk while he decants our wine, to no avail. Although he must notice we are somewhat regulars, he still doesn't even smile when he passes our table. We have tried several appetizers but do not have a favorite. The salad, however, is a different story: The grilled romaine salad with feta cheese, roasted corn and tomatoes is heaven. The tangy dressing and slightly charred taste on the romaine is such a great combination. I love it! As far as entrees go, the short rib is fall-off-the-bone tender and seasoned perfectly. You cannot find a better short rib in this area. Period. I even mention The Brewery's short rib in my review for Top of the Pontch - it's that good. If we're feeling especially hungry, we'll order a side of mac & cheese (yes, that's in addition to the mashed potatoes that come with my short-rib!). OMG, it's so good! My husband has tried several different steaks and is always pleased. As far as I'm concerned, the prices here are comparable to the quality and quantity of the meal. The lady reviewer who was shocked to pay $130 for two meals should dine in lower end establishments.

The Brewery's website states very clearly and prominently that they are open on Sundays at 3:30pm. However, when I arrived, there was a sign on the door stating that they are not open Sundays during the summer. Their food and service may or may not be great. I'll never know. If a restaurant in this day and age can't be bothered to update the hours on their website, then clearly attention to detail is not one of their strengths. Details make a big difference.

Dinner for Two = $130!! I don't usually write bad reviews about places because I think a lot of negative reviews are very single sided... However, I felt compelled to drop my two cents here only because of the price to value ratio. Ate here last night for a good date night dinner and it got off to a horrible start right from the beginning. We had reservations and arrived a few minutes early but were told that it would be a couple of minutes. No big deal, until a couple of minutes turned into 30 minutes later and we watched as over 10 parties were sat ahead of us - 4 of which walked in with no reservation. Ok getting past that frustration, we moved on to drinks and food. Waitress was very nice, not real personable, but not a bad attitude by any means. Her memory of what we ordered on the other hand needed quite a bit of work. Drinks were often forgotten and the add-on lobster tail I ordered came out about 10 minutes after my main entree. The food itself is my biggest complaint.... If you enjoy a salt lick, you'll love this place. Now I am a big fan of salt and usually don't have any problems with foods high in salt, but our appetizer (Spinach and Artichoke Dip) was loaded with so much salt that my husband couldn't even eat it. I could definitely taste the salt, but the flavor wasn't completely overpowering - we only ate about 1/2 of it. Usually when this happens, doesn't wait staff typically ask if everything was ok with the meal - maybe not, but seems to be a normal experience. For dinner, I ordered the whitefish with a side of lobster tail (which was forgotten - as stated above). The whitefish was like eating straight salt - it was not even edible .I tried suffering through it and drinking lots of tea to help disguise it, but just couldn't force myself to do it. When the lobster tail finally came out - you can tell that they tried to cook i quickly because it was burnt! All of the above complaints could be because the cook was too busy wandering around the bar area or getting toothpicks from the front hostess station. I think I saw him more throughout the night than I did my own waitress... Odd! If I am going to spend over $100 on a dinner for two people, I not only expect edible food, but decent service and I just don't feel like we got either. It's a shame really because I remember eating her a few years back and we had a great experience. Not sure what happen, but fairly certain we will not be returning.

I have been going to this place for over 15 years.. Absolutely amazing! The filet melts in your mouth. The cowboy is my boyfriends favorite go to steak! French onion soup is great as well. I have sent several friends here over the years and every single couple has agreed that this place is well worth the money!

This place is seriously a hidden treasure. Lovely staff. Amazing service. Lobster, Oyster Rockefeller my daughter can't get enough of. Prime rib with blue cheese and caramelized onions was absolutely delicious. Bread is wonderful. Sanders on tap for dessert, that's a total win. I can't believe I thought this place was a bar. It's simply one of the areas best dining experiences! Color me impressed!

My favorite place to go for celebrating special occasions. We've been here many times and have never had a bad experience. We love the atmosphere and the food is always great. I highly recommend the calamari appetizer; I could eat it as a main dish it's so delicious.

Went to restaurant for our Anniversary dinner. We hadn't been to the restaurant for about a yr, but in the past, birthdays and other special occasions were celebrated there. I LOVED their scallops and was very disappointed the way the scallops are served now! As posted by another reviewer, in June 2014, you were served 6 sauteed scallops with melted butter and they were AWESOME! Fast forward to yesterday, and you receive 4 scallops that are seared and have very little taste, served over Sweet Corn Parmigian Risotto. It was all very bland and overpriced. My husband had the lamb chops and he had no complaints, but we went there expecting the scallops that they used to serve. Not sure we will be back :(

Don't really understand why people rate this place less than 5stars! The ambiance is great, the food selection is perfect, the amount and quality of food is outstanding. My better half and myself had (her) veal Marsala and (myself) white fish-both were presentations picture perfect (should have taken pics-will next time) and the quality was the best. Did I mention the drinks-great pours. Ok yes we like the drinks! Bottom line: great place, great food, great drinks. Is it pricey$ yes but you pay for what you get. I think it's a perfect place for either a special occasion or well you know. Belly nice and full.

Came here for the first time last Sunday for dinner. It wasn't that busy and we were promptly seated. There was 5 of us in our party. I ordered the lamb chops and they were delicious. One of the best I've ever had. My boyfriend enjoyed his rib eye as did my uncle. My mother raved about her cod which was cooked with a cream sauce and looked tasty. Service was good and the prices were reasonable for the quality and presentation of food you get.

The Brewery simply has the finest food in the area. Treat yourself and that special someone to the Chateaubriand. Big enough for two. It's not on the menu so just ask for it. Always crowded but the good service picks up the slack.

I can't explain why this place is at 3.5/5, but I will tell you that the people giving this place low scores need their head examined. Considering my lack of comprehension in math, I'll never have a sufficient enough job to afford being able to come here often in my lifetime, but I really enjoy when I rarely get to have a "fancy" dinner. The Brewery, despite its horrifically random name, boasts some of the best food I have ever eaten. I've been here four times now I think, and I always tell myself to get something different, but that damn filet mignon is absolutely perfect. It's cooked flawlessly throughout, the crust/char on the outside is mouthwatering, and the zip sauce they put on the plate? Well, I need to start asking for a bit extra. In a word, phenomenal. I also had shrimp bisque, a side salad with raspberry vinaigrette, and their macaroni and cheese -- hey, I was hungry. I had never had a shrimp bisque before, but I would find it hard to believe one could be made better than the one at The Brewery. Shrimp was plentiful without turning the soup into a bowl of whole shrimp, the seasoning was spot on (perfect amount of salt), the texture was great... it was never too "rich". I could have had myself a quart of the stuff, it's that outstanding. The side salad was about what I expected it to be. Of the times I've been here, I've not had a salad until now. It has a nice mix of vegetables in there with a single cherry tomato and cucumber slice. The raspberry vinaigrette *had* to have been made in-house, because the raspberry flavor was more pronounced and natural tasting than I get in anything from a bottle. Very fresh, enjoyable salad. For the fan of traditional macaroni and cheese, theirs would make you fall in love. It's creamy with a lot of yellow cheddar... think a Velveeta-like sauce, but.... one that tastes good and, I don't know... REAL. The bread crumb topping is a nice touch as well that I like on my macaroni and cheese. I tend to prefer mac and cheese now that has a variety of cheeses and spices to make it more interesting, but for the kind of macaroni and cheese they were going for, they did great. As for the service, well, it's right at the threshold of neaaarly being a bit too much. The water boys seem to be away from the table only half the time, as they're constantly stopping by to fill you up. We went at 4pm as they were opening and were one of the few tables for most of the time we were there, but even after the place had filled, they were there often. I guess this sort of thing would be an annoyance to some, but I didn't mind TOO much. All of the employees also come off as very nice and greet you upon entry and say goodbye as you leave. I know this sort of thing is typical in most restaurants, but it just sounds more... I don't know... sincere here? I never got the feeling that I was looked down on or judged, and the workers didn't seem to be uppity or anything of the sort. As I said, I don't have myself a fancy meal often at all. Not just because I can't afford it, but because I'm perfectly content with slapping down a ten dollar bill and stuffing my face with a nice juicy burger and some fries or onion rings... oh, and I'm not exactly the "classiest" sort of guy. I just feel out of sorts in an expensive restaurant. When I want to eat with my pinky out though, The Brewery is my choice. Sure, there are other options I haven't been to, and they're probably great, but I see no reason to NOT go to The Brewery, because they're consistently great every single time.

First, don't be fooled by the name "brewery restaurant". This probably isn't what you're thinking it is based on the name. It's not a brew pub. It is, however, an outstanding place for a great dinner. I thought Mr Paul's had the best steak on this side of town...and then I had the NY strip here and found myself horribly conflicted about which place is better. Then I found out why - same family owns both Mr Paul's and this place. They're brothers, apparently, which makes it easier to understand why they're so similar. I saw some earlier reviews had called the dress here "casual". I wouldn't call it "casual", in that it's definitely not a "jeans and tee shirt" kind of place by any stretch of the imagination. If you don't want to feel self conscious, guys - wear a jacket (even if you're wearing jeans, throw a decent shirt and a sportcoat on), ladies - you don't have to dress to kill or anything, but it's definitely a "nice skirt/dress" kind of place. Not that anyone here will really make you feel out of place...but you'll notice that you'll "blend" better if you're dressed a step above "casual". Things tried last night: - Appetizers consisted of escargot in an amazing garlic sauce, and some perfectly prepared ahi tuna. The "iron chef" presentation aspect kind of got annoying, because at a six person round table, the two orders of ahi tuna showed up on...you know the things that painters keep all their paint on, that their thumb sticks through? Like Bob Ross always had in his hand? Yeah, they were like that big...about four times as big as they needed to be to handle the tuna, sauce and wasabi that was on the plates...and those two took up about half the table, that's how big they were. But...whatever. Quickly devoured and cleared away by the very attentive staff, so a relatively minor annoyance. - Pork Chop. I really can't do this justice with words, but I'll try. The pork chop looked like it should've been on a tray getting placed on the side of Fred Flinstone's car. It was huge, it was tender, it was incredibly well cooked and prepared and was firm without being tough, and was just outstanding. - NY Strip. Asked for medium, got a dead-on medium, and as with the pork chop, it was a huge slab of beef. Loved it. The "cowboy ribeye" apparently needs to be on my "to do" list for a future visit...it's allegedly twice as big as the strip. The staff is extremely attentive, and there was barely a moment that would pass between "drink is almost empty" and "Can I get you another?" The bartenders make drinks on the strong side here, so keep that in mind. They carry Final Absolution, and wound up getting into a chat with some randoms at the bar after dinner while we were just hanging out and socializing about breweries in the area, etc. Friendly crowd, which is always a plus. Definitely recommend hitting this place. It's bigger and more updated than Mr Paul's - not to detract from Paul's at all, but between the two, I think I'd give a slight edge to this place over it.

We like to come here for anniversary or special occasions. Steaks are wonderful, especially the fillet. Love the french onion soup, breads, and desserts. Service is always friendly.

Really don't get why this place has high reviews. I know there isn't much selection in this area, but nothing about this place felt like finer-dining. Waitstaf didn't seem very friendly. Drinks were kind of steep for what you get ($13 margarita)... and I don't mind paying good $ for a nice drink. My salad was good. That's about it. (I think it was a goat cheese/pear salad). Everything is an "upsell" and you can't "upgrade". Seriously, I HAD to order one of the two soups or salads they offered with my meal... I couldn't pay the $3 extra to change it to a soup I'd rather have. Same thing with the "sides". I can purchase mashed potatoes (instead of other styled potatoes or rice) but can't upgrade to them (which is still stupid... but I'd accept that better). I ordered scallops. They were brought out on what looked like a plain little saucer and had no flavor what-so-ever. I might as well have been eating soft rice cakes. My date wasn't impressed with his steak either, though unlike my scallops he did finish his meal. I'm glad we had a restaurant.com voucher for this, but I still didn't enjoy my meal. Won't be back. ALSO, for some reason this place has TWO listings which I have tried to point out to Yelp with no avail. Not sure why they are allowed to do that. The other review has the same location info but is titled "The Brewery". This should be updated.

I went to this restaurant for my friends surprise 30th birthday party and we had a decent time. The establishment is very nice inside and out, and the staff was friendly and accommodating to our party and the fact of it being a surprise too. This place is in the realm of fine dining with elevated prices because of the mood lighting, waitstaff that is dressed up, full bar and entrees of steak, chops, seafood, veal and Italian options. I had the tilapia that came with roasted pine nuts and a lemon and caper buerre blanc sauce with rice pilaf and a house salad. The salad was really good. Fresh, crunchy greens with a WONDERFUL bleu cheese dressing that had to be home made. The bread basket was exceptional too. It comprised of chewy baguette that was warm and soft on the inside along with salty, crunchy bread sticks with poppy seeds. My entree was nice, but didn't knock my socks off. The fish was small in portion and was a tad over-breaded for my liking. Tilapia is a mild fish that should be accented with the sauce your making it with - not the frying technique. The pilaf was nice in flavor but was on the mushy side and didn't have that "fluff" that I look for in rice. But the biggest disappointment was the buerre blanc sauce, which is specifically designed to accompany fish. It was very, very bland. The point of a buerre blanc is for your taste buds to be hit with the tang of the vinegar/lemon and then relaxed with the creamy milk solids in the butter. Instead I had butter that was oily. Also (and I'm not trying to sound dramatic) I literally had 5 caper berries and 3 toasted pine nuts in the sauce... Sad. I tried my friends ribs and they were delicious! It had a spice and tang that was very enveloping on my palate. The meat of falling off the bone too.... Next time. I may go here again to give it another shot. I think I just ordered the "wrong thing" on the menu (every place on of those), or the cook was having an off-day or something. There's potential there, it's not a lost cause.... yet.

Dined here for a special occasion. The atmosphere is very intimate and romantic. A Saturday night is a busy time for dinner reservations but they do take a reservation so that is a plus! The meal was good, almost outstanding. It wasn't outstanding because the steak that I ordered, which was ordered well done, did not appear that way. It was too pink, borderline red. The crab cakes were the best that I've had. Very light and fluffy compared to the heavy, salty, over seasoned that I've experienced at other places. You could actually taste the crab because it wasn't over powered by the add ins. I'm giving the Brewery 3 stars because of the service. We waited for a bit even though we had a reservation and the server missed a couple of marks. I ordered ranch with my salad and received balsamic. I ordered veggies with my dinner and received a baked potato. Outside of my order she got everything correct that my boyfriend ordered. I would definitely go back and look forward to another great experience

I am blown away this place has such great reviews. I don't even know where to begin. Let me note, I made a yelp account just to leave this review. It was THAT bad of an experience. And I'm not one to complain. So I drive by this place a lot and it always seems busy so I thought it might be good. I looked it up online and their website looks great. Very deceiving. First of all it's called the brewery and they don't have a single beer on tap. We had a reservation and got there a little early so we had to wait. No big deal. But they don't have buzzers, it's very loud in there, and they have a 60 year old woman who attempts to yell your name when your table is ready. Not sure how long she was trying to yell for us when it was our turn. We get seated. A stumbling buss boy brings enough table settings for two people. There are four of us. He comes back with one knife. Okay so now we have three knives but still not enough forks. Oh and we never got enough menus. Again, not a huge deal. My boyfriend orders a coke. The waitress tells us they have Pepsi. She proceeds to take drink orders from myself, my dad and my mom. We all order beers. In bottles. Then she says oh wait we have coke. My boyfriend orders his coke. She brings the drinks and she starts to take our orders. My mom gets the perch. I order the filet. Then she stops and says oh I have to deliver my other tables food, I'll be back to take the rest of your orders. Really? Okay strange. She comes back. My boyfriend orders the whitefish. Nope sorry out of that. Okay so he gets the perch as well. My dad orders the New York strip. Nope sorry out of that too. Okay so he gets the cowboy steak. We also order a few sides. The meal comes with a salad. She brings out the salads. You know the hard white butt ends of a head of lettuce? That's what the salads were made out of. Pretty disgusting for such a "nice" place. So we attempt to choke it down because we are very hungry. We finish our drinks and try to order another round. 15 minutes later our waitress comes back and tells us they are out of the beer we were just drinking. Okay we order a different kind. Our food arrives. Or, well, some if it. My boyfriend get his perch. I get my filet. My dad gets his steak. They got my moms order wrong. So all she has is her side dish, some spinach. They don't bring out any other sides yet. My boyfriend finishes his perch before they bring anything else. My mom finally gets her perch. It's breaded. No where on the menu does it tell you that. She's disappointed but she eats it. My filet was supposed to be medium. It's hard as a rock. I'm steak and potatoes gal. It's really hard to disappoint me with steak. But this was hands down the WORST filet I've ever had in my life. The vegetables that came with it were like frozen vegetables that they nuked. They were mushy and just lukewarm. My boyfriend still had not received his side, mashed potatoes. 20 minutes into the food being at the table she comes by to tell him they are out of mashed potatoes. Another 10 minutes and she finally brings my dads side of asparagus. He was pretty full of steak by then. My dads shy and so he did not complain. At this point some guy who I'm assuming was a manager but never introduced himself comes to the table and starts babbling on about how we should finish our meal and have a good time. He kept repeating himself and seemed nervous. It made no sense and then he left. We were all left baffled at what was happening. Finally the bill comes. $117. On it we were also charged for the beers that they were sold out of that we never received. We brought it to the waitress attention and she took it to be taken care of. After that I think they had had enough of disappointing us and took care of the bill. Wow! Something good finally. All and all, I would never come here again. I would never recommend this place to anyone, unless I hated them and I wanted a good laugh. I cannot beeline this place has been around so long. But you can tell by the people eating there, they are mostly old and probably regulars. Maybe in 30 years when they all die out, the place will have to close because no young, well fed humans will choose to continue to eat at this horrid place. I'm embarrassed that it was my idea to bring my family here. Thanks for the shitty free meal.

I haven't been here in nearly a decade. I work a lot if nights, and when I'm off I rarely like to dine out; specifically at places where I run into people I know. This is definitely the neighborhood upscale place for great food, so I always run into people (and let's be honest, it's not a day or night off when you have to talk with people you hardly know, but know enough not to be rude to). That being said, it was nice to come back to a place that reminds me of my childhood. Let's start off with what's new. The remodel is definitely more modern, but call me nostalgic, bc I loved the old decor much more. The food was just as wonderful tonight as it was when we used to come once or twice a month growing up. Succulent Twin Lobster Tails, delicious escargot, crusty bread, and tender meats. The owners haven't lost their touch, which is great food in a beautiful atmosphere. I'll be returning much more frequently in the future.

My wife and I have come here in the 80's. We liked it better back then! Known for it's house burger, which is very good. Now it is trying to be to fancy. Food is okay, but not fantastic. Would rather go to J.Baldwin's for better meal and atmosphere

Went here for the first time on New Years Eve and it was amazing! The staff was so nice and the food was beyond delicious! Amazing wine as well, we got two bottles at the table haha. Even with a crazy busy night and our dinner party arriving 30 minutes late our waitress didn't rush us one bit and was very attentive. Loved the atmosphere!! Can't wait to return!

The ambiance is very nice, clean and kept up to date. I am 50yrs old and went here to dine while on my first prom date. I appreciate the business still being around and the inside looking the same and yet somehow having a current decorative appeal. Mom's Lake Perch at $20.00 was small, a bit under-cooked with the breading not very crispy. Her baked potato was very small. Her toasted almond drink at $8.00 was served in what was a very small and very boring looking short, thick glass. When ordering a drink at a nice establishment one expects a classy glass to accompany the drink but this glass looked like it cost all of 50 cents at a garage sale. For both of us the meal came to $50.00 and we both went away not really feeling like we had a great meal or wanting to rush back. I'd go back but would probably want to have a coupon as I feel the prices are a bit inflated for what you get. I ordered the Twin Lobsters. The two lobsters were a decent size and cooked OK. The rice was a bit bland but OK. The bell pepper soup was delicious! The bread basket was very good too.

This place is a glorified, over-priced family dining joint that happens to serve alcohol. A friend recommended this place and we were excited to have a nice night out. Our server did not tell us the specials and could not explain the menu well. My wife's grouper was loaded with bones. For the price, you would expect finer quality, however, just a very slight notch above a typical family diner...

Please do not spend your hard earned money here. It was our 20 year staple and the last three times the food was terrible and the service was no better. I don't know what happened to this place but it has gone downhill. My food was lukewarm at best and my husbands steak was tough and rubbery. The waitress rushed us through the meal and even told us to hurry up. The busboy took my 85 year old father and my son-in-laws plates away before they were finished! Another horrible experience that cost us $450.00! For that price you would think quality would be their priority. After 20 years we will never go back! I can't believe they are still in business. The management needs to start caring. What a shame.

This is the place to go for special occasions as it's a bit expensive, but worth every penny. The filet mignon and the sautéed perch are terrific. Spend the extra for the red skin garlic mashed potatoes with gravy. (Why they feel they must charge extra for mashed potatoes is beyond me) the service is exceptional and you won't go thirsty as the bus boys are constantly refilling your water glass.

My SO and I had a 7:15 reservation Saturday. We were told to wait which we did for over an hour. When we finally were seated it was at a remote table in the back. My SO had purchased a $100 gift certificate which we planned on using. When our bill came he presented the gift certificate which the waiter took. A few minutes later a man came to the table and rudely shouted that they would not accept the certificate. He refused to explain and bullied us into paying and wasting the gift certificate. This was rude and unacceptable. Is it possible that The Brewery doesn't want senior citizens?

I don't give 5 stars lightly, only when greatly deserved. Been coming here on & off for ten plus years. They finally gave the place a needed remodel about 5 years ago and did a fabulous job. The place is extremely warm inviting and classy an ideal local fine dining location. The service is top notch fine dining with the owners on hand providing the perfect amount of attention. the food is consistently fantastic with nightly specials such as sea bass (my favorite) to keep the menu interesting. On occasion we've made special requests of the kitchen that were graciously received and accommodated. Later the chef came out to ensure our satisfaction, great touch:) the prices are right for the quality and experience. We'll obviously be back soon:)

Could not have encountered a better dining experience. Arrived early (before opening) to arrange a special (95th Birthday Party) event. Called to seek early access and our party of three was immediately greeted and welcomed. The interior is finely appointed. Bar service is fast, libations are correctly delivered and service was excellent. The Hostess and Owner both warmly welcomed us. At opening (4:00 PM) we were escorted to a well set table and our waitress provided us menus, special recommendations and took drink and appetizer orders. We had the Calamari and it was one of the best presentations I have enjoyed. Lightly breaded, mildly seasoned and very tender. Temperature was perfect. Two of us selected the red (Manhattan) clam chowder and were very pleased with the recipe and, again, perfect temperature. Our third table companion had the house salad and was impressed with the house dressing. Fresh bread sticks and warm bread were also served upon seating. I ordered the New York Steak with French Fries. I specified charred exterior and warm red interior and the steak that arrived was "Perfect", one of the very best I have enjoyed. Table companions selected the liver and onions and the filet mignon and there was a good natured argument as to who had enjoyed the best meal. Desert menu and beverages were offered but not pursued at this visit. Recommend timeliness in reservations as the tables fill rapidly. Observation is that there is a strong loyalty to this facility and diners visit on a regular basis. I had read a very negative review of this establishment and can honestly say that, not only did we not encounter any of the negative aspects reported; from all appearances this is an establishment that would quickly ameliorate any customer concern. From this dining experience it is obvious that owners are mindful of customer expectations and they have impressed upon their staff to exceed those expectations. If there was a 6 star grade The Brewery would have received it!

I am not sure where the bak reviews for The Brewery come from - this is my favorite steak house in the suburbs - not sure there there is any competition in the city either. We have never had less than great service, every steak comes out perfectly cooked to order, our water glasses never empty and everything else is tasty too! The only negatives: the twice baked potatoes are cooked with the foil on, sometimes the live music is too loud. Fridays seem to be pretty easy to get in with out a reservation, I highly suggest a reservation for Saturday night or larger parties.

Went there for a family Christmas dinner. Excellent food and service. I had scallops they were excellent. Salad and soup good also. But it 's quite expensive. Not the kind of place you'll dine at every week....but great for special occasions.

The Brewery is one of the best chop houses in the metro Detroit area. I've eaten here numerous times and the cuts are always perfect, and the service and atmosphere match.

Wow! I haven't been here since Snowcoming 1988 (!) so I didn't quite know what to expect. What a great place! The food was amazing and the service was even better. I would have posted this review over the weekend but I just came out of my food coma. So delicious - I had the salmon. This did not taste like any salmon I've ever had before. The rolls, breadsticks, salad, crab cakes. . I could go on and on. I ate until the button on my jeans threatened to pop off. Two thumbs way up!

My sweetheart & I took the kids on a Wednesday night. We were sat immediately. I asked the hostess to seat us away from other patrons because we had the kids with us but she said there was no need. That made me happy. Our server came to us directly and offered drinks. She was patient but seem to be in a rush. We, however were not. We order drinks & apps. Our server gave us the low down on specials, Our sever even stop by our table to show us 2 fish special before she delivered them to a table next to ours. I already had my heart set on a steak but the halibut & the salmon she let us peak at looked amazing. Before our apps came out we ordered dinner. Mistake. We had our soup out to the table before app were 1/2 gone. I asked our server to slow it down. She did. She kept everyone drinks filled & asked if it would be okay before she bought the kids refills. That also made me happy. The service was good. She did her job, bought us everything we needed with out any fuss. I just felt like she was rushed, which in turn made us feel rushed. I didn't think that they were that busy. Maybe they were, I looked around & there seem to be enough staff on. I felt like maybe she was a step behind. Our service wasn't bad by any means, just RUSHED. The last thing that I will say about service is that I snuck my credit card to our server because it was my sweethearts b-day & I told our server that. After we all declined dessert & the bill was brought, I thought perhaps our server should have wished my sweetie a happy b-day. I ordered a glass of red. There wasn't much choice by the glass. My wine was very nice. We ordered spinach dip for kids & calamari for the adults. Both were very good. the 'bread' that came with the spinach dip was fab. Calamari was tasty, same as Rochester Chop House. The soup was GREAT. So good we had to have the kids try. We had twin Lobster tails, New York strip, 9oz filet & (sorry) a grill cheese. EVERY thing was great. All steaks were cooked perfectly. Even our oldest loved his so much that he insisted that he take his home, which he let us know, HE would be eating. The side dishes all came out hot. Lobster tails were on special. 2 six oz. tails for $19.00, they were seasoned perfectly. My N.Y. was tender and delicious. We had no room for dessert. Every one walked out talking about how great the food was. Am I ever happy about that!!! I do want to comment on the children's menu. Even though our little one had a grill cheese, I really was impressed with their choices, They offer a small tenderloin & grilled chicken, along with the traditional thing kids eat. I hope to be back at The Brewery to dine again soon.

I ate here about 10 years ago and can't remember what I ate, but I do remember loving it. I believe I had the swordfish as I had just moved here and hadn't had swordfish in MI yet. My favorite swordfish place in Milwaukee (Century Club) had burned down years prior. Fast forward to May 2012.... do NOT order the swordfish. It was awful. Dried out, yet mushy in parts where I wasnt' sure if it was fully cooked. It was flavorless (as far as spices go - not fishiness). Our waitress was kind enough to remove it from our bill. My husband's dinner was FABULOUS. The veal parmesan. DELICIOUS! I should have ordered that. I also tried on this recent trip the mac 'n cheese - very good. The coffee drinks and great as are the desserts. I love the atmosphere here. It sort of reminds me of the old school dinner houses my parents used to frequent on road trips. Beautiful bar and heavy pourers. Big and choose your menu items careully. Maybe one should ask how fresh the fish (or how old the frozen is if it is even frozen) is before ordering. I hope to soon find thee place to get swordfish in Metro-Detroit. If anyone knows of a good place let me know! I can't wait to go to The Brewery again and try something else - hopefully it'll be sooner than 10 years from now.

If possible, I'd give this NO stars. I've been going to the Brewery for years - but never came here for a holiday meal. That changed last night (Christmas Eve 2013). We had a party of 8 with a 7pm reservation, and we were seated promptly. We had called ahead and specifically inquired if they would be serving prime rib (Since that's what 5 out of our 8 people were ordering) and was assured prime rib was on the menu. The key word is "was" since almost an hour after placing our order the waitress (and manager) came by our table to inform us they were out of Prime Rib. Really? Because after 30 years of operation you guys have NO clue as to how much Prime Rib to prepare for a Holiday? It would appear as though they really didn't anticipate how to balance the number of reservations to the menu items and serve pieces on hand as we were constantly "waiting on" bread and drink (they ran out of glasses). When our soups and salads arrived the soup was COLD - great if its a soup meant to be served cold, sucky when its an Italian wedding soup - chicken version. After much waiting. debating and meetings with both the waitress and manager regarding our choices our entrees finally arrived. Those who ordered the steak and lobster got royally screwed as the lobster wasn't fully cooked (read RAW in the middle) and those of us who ordered baked potatoes with our filets weren't able to enjoy a side dish with it since the baked potatoes were ICE COLD (like the soup!) and still raw inside. Now please keep in mind that we arrived at 7pm and were not served our meals until 8:13 - I know this for a fact because I was starving and kept checking my phone to see the time. The manager (Gary, I think) did apologize and took several items off our bill. which was exactly what he should have done, but the lame excuses were a bit much, and Christmas Eve dinner was ruined no matter what. Let's cut to the chase and be brutally honest... Our soup was cold because the waitress (who had been working there all of 3 weeks) didn't serve it promptly. Seriously... On a major holiday where you are serving a special, limited menu and have increased your menu prices by a minimum of $10 per plate shouldn't you have your best servers working? Granted our waitress was nice enough, but it was clear she wasn't very experienced & while she tried very hard the service was slow and sloppy. The items we were served undercooked, cold and occasionally raw were due to the fact that we were the last seating and the kitchen was NOT trying to "catch up" - they were rushing to get us out of there so they could go home. You ran out of Prime Rib because you were unable to accurately (after 30 years) predict the number of servings per menu item to the number of reserved tables. So basically we received really crappy service to be served really crappy food, and upon complaining be fed instead a bunch of lame excuses. I won't be back. when you have the nerve to charge $30 for a steak you damn well better deliver a high quality product - the Brewery has yet to master this simple task. We could have gone to Golden Coral (LOL) and received a better meal.

I've been to this place numerous times and I was prepared to write a great review, but the last two times I've been there I was disappointed. It seems lately that the waitstaff is dismissive of the customers. I feel that when you pay over $130 dollars for dinner, you could expect that the waitstaff would be friendly and attentive. Our waitress could care less. She provided good service, but we got the impression we were a bother to her. It really kinda ruined our evening out. The food was excellent as always, and the atmosphere was pleasant, but when the waitress doesn't care the night goes down the drain. I'll probably give them another chance, only because there are not many upscale restaurants in the area, but if there were I'd take my business elsewhere.

5 of us went to the Brewery for my birthday. The hostess couldn't "find" my reservation on her handwritten list (need to update this ancient approach). Caused us an uncomfortable, additional 15-20 minute wait. As usual, the food was very tasty! And, our seasoned server was just the best. We'll go again, but I'll ALWAYS confirm my reservation an hour before arrival in the future. No more surprises.

First of all I cannot believe there are not more reviews for this place. It is a local institution. The ambiance is upscale dinning. The crowd is older and the place is definitely based around quality dinning. You wont leave here saying it's "hip" but it's not stodgy and does not feel like a retirement home either. I always order steak when I dine here. Every cut, usually cooked medium rare, and they are all delicious. Always cooked right. A nice sear/crust on the outside, a pat of butter melting over the top, and red but warm inside. I cant name specific appetizers but they are always delicious. I have recently been to London Chophouse (where I had the porter house), Joe Muer (New York Strip), and yes outback steak house. None of these hold a candle to The Brewery. The service is top notch. The waitstaff is knowledgeable about the menu and you receive constant attention. I have also been here for several special occasions and large parties are handle just as well. I recommend the brewery as a week night dinner or a special occasion. DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!
